Terms & Conditions of Hire

These conditions form part of the accident replacement vehicle rental agreement you sign when your vehicle is delivered. Please read them carefully before submitting your enquiry.

Conditions of hire

  • The vehicle must be returned with a full tank of fuel. A $200 fee applies if the vehicle is not returned full.
  • The vehicle is not registered for any toll roads. Add the vehicle's registration to your own toll account to avoid a $10 fine per toll nomination.
  • No smoking in the vehicle and no pets allowed — fines apply.
  • Fines received while the car is on hire will be nominated to the listed driver, and a $50 administration fee is charged per fine.
  • The vehicle is not permitted off road, or on any roads other than a named road.
  • There is no roadside assistance on our vehicles. Flat or damaged tyres and lost keys are at the cost of the hirer.
  • The hirer is liable for costs if the hired vehicle is damaged due to mechanical damage, and for towing costs if the vehicle is abandoned. Insurance will only cover panel damage, and only for drivers with a zero blood alcohol level at the time of any accident.

Duration of hire & return of the vehicle

  • One Drive reserves the right to require the immediate return of the vehicle upon completion of repairs to your personal vehicle, or upon payment for the net loss of your vehicle. If you do not comply with this requirement, you are liable for all costs reasonably incurred by One Drive.
  • If you return the car of your own accord within 5 business days, you will be charged directly for the hire at a rate of $100 per day plus GST.
  • One Drive has the right to request or collect the car at any time during the hire without any reason.

Recovery of hire costs

  • By signing the rental agreement you agree to assist One Drive with the recovery of the hire car invoice, including assisting with legal proceedings if required, to ensure payment is made by the at-fault insurer or party. Failure to assist with recovery will result in the hirer being liable for all hire costs.
  • This assistance may include providing documents, witness statements, or, in some cases, appearing in court as a witness.
  • You must mitigate your loss to your insurer or the at-fault insurer within 5 days post-accident. Failure to do this will cause a period of hire not covered by the at-fault party or insurer, and the shortfall of the final invoice will need to be paid by the hirer.
  • You remain responsible for fuel, tolls, and any infringements during the hire, just as you would be with your own car.

Authority to act

Under the rental agreement, you authorise One Drive and its appointed recovery partners to act on your behalf in recovering the replacement vehicle costs, communicating with the insurer in regards to the claim, and commencing legal proceedings if the matter must be defended in a court of law. All payments for the replacement vehicle must be made directly to One Drive as per the signed agreement.
